Owen-Withee School Board Approves Negotiated Settlement with Teacher Group

-The Owen-Withee School Board approved a negotiated settlement with the district’s teacher group at their meeting last week.Negotiations with the OWEA teachers group were completed earlier in May with a tentative agreement for a 1.4% total wage increase for 2016-17. The OWEA approved the agreement at a meeting on Monday morning of last week. The board unanimously approved the 1.4% increase. The board was reminded that graduation ceremonies for the class of 2016 will be held on Saturday, May 28 at 10:00am and board members were invited to sit on the stage.
The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor reported on the 4th grad trip to Madison, which was held on Friday, May 13th, and the Title I Parents’ Night to be held in the elementary on Thursday, May 19th from 5-7 PM. 4th grade agriculture days will be held on Tuesday, May 24th, while the Spring Sing will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 1st. Summer school registration is being finalized and, finally, he offered a big thank you to Forward Financial Bank of Withee and Time Federal Savings of Owen for donating to the elementary playground equipment project. With the money from these two financial institutions, the final piece of the playground project can be purchased.
