Inmate Who Escaped Black River Falls Prison Enters Plea for the Incident

-An inmate who escaped the Black River Falls Correctional Center back in August of 2015 entered a plea for the charges against him in Jackson County Court on Tuesday.On August 2nd of 2015, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department received a call from the Black River Correctional Center that Kaeden Dumholt had escaped and a vehicle was reported stolen from the area he had last been seen. Dumholt is also linked to a stolen and crashed vehicle from Eau Claire, and is facing charges in Eau Claire County, and a home invasion and high speed chase in Sawyer County near Hayward.
He was spotted in Rice Lake in Barron County two weeks later. Sheriff's Deputies contacted a man that was walking around a house on 19th Street. The man said he had broken down and was looking for help. One of the deputies recognized the man as Dumholt and he was taken to the Barron County Jail where his fingerprint was scanned confirming his identity. Dumholt pleaded guilty to a charge of escaping criminal arrest. A charge of taking and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent and theft of movable property was dismissed and read in. A pre-sentencing investigation was ordered and he’ll be sentenced at the end of July.
