Marshfield Man Sentenced for Incident Stemming from Sexual Assault of a Child

-A Marshfield man, who was originally charged with sexual assault of a child, has been sentenced for the incident.The victim, 25-years-old today, told authorities that in 1999, at 11-years-old, she worked at the Park View Pet Motel. She told authorities that on numerous occasions the owner, Ray Poeppel, would sit down behind her and inappropriately touch her.
Poeppel was charged with repeated sexual assault of a child, but, due to a plea deal reached, he was charged with two counts of neglecting a child and one count of lewd and lascivious behavior in public. He was found guilty due to a no contest plea. Poeppel owes the courts $444 and he was sentenced to 2 years’ probation with an imposed and stayed jail time of 9 months.
