Clark County Board Discusses Administrative Coordinator Position, Final
Monday, April 25th, 2016 -- 8:00 AM
-The Clark County Board of Supervisors heard more about the Administrative Coordinator position at their meeting last week. After hearing about the proposal from Clark County’s Corporation Counsel Jake Brunette, the board discussed some of the concerns they have with bringing back this position. At one point the county did have someone in this position. Several board members stated there ended up being a power struggle between the Administrative Coordinator, the county committees and the board.
There was also a question on who would get the position if the current person who has it leaves. Another board member felt that if it was given to a current county employee, they would be too busy with the Administrative Coordinator position and their regular position. Many felt that things should just stay the way they are and another board member stated that the County Clerk typically gets this position in other counties and should here in Clark.
Jake stated that many department heads have reached out to him saying they would like to have someone in this position so they have someone to support them. There was another board member who stated that they were getting to “hung up” about power and they should support this position as a way to tie the county together. In the end, as with many items that come before the board, they were told to think about the cost of hiring this person.
