Wednesday, April 20th, 2016 -- 9:16 AM
-The Neillsville School Board approved the final version of the Unusually Hazardous Transportation Areas.By approving this plan, the Neillsville School District is eligible to receive funding from the state for transporting students in areas that are considered hazardous. The district already provides transportation in those areas, but now they can receive funding for it. The areas considered hazardous include all addresses on West 19th Street, West 20th Street, West 21st Street and those that are North of 1900 block on Johnson and Pitcher Streets; all addresses on East 15th Street East of Bruley Street to city limits; all addresses on Division Street east of Willow Street to the city limits; and all addresses on 5th Street from Ferguson Street West to the city limits.
The reason these are considered hazardous is because there are area of no sidewalks for students to walk on. There are also areas of high traffic that could be dangerous for kids to walk, especially if there are no sidewalks. Once the proposal was complete, it received final approval from the county sheriff and now it will be sent to the state.
