Clark County Board Discusses Administrative Coordinator Position, Part 1
Wednesday, April 20th, 2016 -- 11:18 AM
-The Clark County Board of Supervisors began their meeting on Tuesday by taking care of reorganizational matters. The new board members and returning members were sworn in to begin the meeting. Elections were then held to put board members in various committees including finance, social services and more, and to elect the chair person and vice-chair person. Appointments of board members to different committees and organizations were also approved.
The one item on the agenda was a resolution to, essentially, continue the status quo and have the County Board Chair, Wayne Hendrickson, continue as the Administrative Coordinator, for now. The Clark County Board of Supervisors has had the County Chair serve as the Administrative Coordinator for some time now, but a recent review, by the County’s Corporation Counsel, found the county isn’t really in compliance with the legality of doing it this way, based on an opinion by the state Attorney General. There are a few other counties in the state the do it the same way and no legal action has been brought against them, but the Corporation Counsel felt that it would better to be safe than sorry.
