The Clark County Sheriff’s Department congratulates Deputy McKenna Brecht for being awarded a Criminal Justice Scholarship from the Wisconsin Sheriffs & Deputy Sheriffs Association.

Deputy Brecht is from Spencer and she graduated high school in 2018. After high school, she went to Northcentral Technical College for criminal justice and graduated in December 2020 with her associate degree.

She became a reserve deputy for the Clark County Jail in January and she is currently enrolled in college for her bachelors degree in criminal justice at UW-Eau Claire.  Deputy Brecht found detective work very interesting.

When she got older, she wanted to make a difference and help people. There was not anything specific that made her want to get into law enforcement.  She believes it was something she was born to do and it is one of her burning desires.  Deputy Brecht said one of her greatest role models is her mother.

She has really been her rock for everything and encourages everything she wants to do. Between her mother and father, they both raised her to be the hard-working, independent, young adult she is today.  She is very thankful to have such amazing parents that support her.

Deputy Brecht said she has several goals including getting all the experience she can get.  She would like to work her way up in administration wherever she is. She would also like to work her way to the state and then to federal law enforcement.

Her options are open and she is sure she will make the best out of her career. She is a go-getter and will take up all the opportunities she can to make herself a better law enforcement officer.

In 5 years, she sees herself being done with college by then and will have a full-time job. She is hoping to either be full-time in the Clark County Jail or make her way to the road for Clark County and be a road deputy to get some good experience under her belt.

She wants to have a full career in law-enforcement, but her biggest ambition is to make it to the FBI and become an FBI agent. She wants to travel with her career.
