Representative Bob Kulp's Listening Session in Neillsville, Final
Friday, April 8th, 2016 -- 11:19 AM
-Representative Bob Kulp appeared in Neillsville for a listening session on Thursday along with his guest Senator Terry Moulton. The two appeared at the American Legion. There were only a few people in attendance, but they covered several topics. Bob and Terry ended the session by providing their thoughts on the presidential primary.
[Laughing]
Bob: "Senator, you want to go? I was in Milwaukee on Tuesday night seeing them all up close and personal."
Terry: "Well, I'm just going to go by what the polls say right now and the polls are saying Cruz is going to win in Wisconsin. It's probably the most interesting cycle that I've ever experienced in my lifetime, certainly."
Bob: "I was a Rubio supporter and, of course, he dropped out, so I haven't publicly endorsed anybody and have no intention to at this point. The Wall Street Journal called up on Monday and asked my opinion and I let it go to voicemail because I was tied up otherwise and I didn't get the message until later that evening, so I didn't return the call. Because the Wall Street Journal only cares about what I think about for this week and then they could care less about me. And I was spending time with a Hispanic group in Abbotsford that was infinitely more important then that, so the Wall Street Journal still doesn't know what I think."
"And the Senator said that the polls would show that Cruz is ahead and that would be my hope. Either way, the American people are really what make us great. Government never has. Whoever we put at the head will have a hard time either dismantling the spirit of the American people or, frankly, making it a whole lot better. Government passes laws and people, hopefully, will have the ability to continue to participate in that and we'll watch the process play out."
Terry: "I always think back to what Charles Coulson said. He said that, 'Government is not going to make a huge difference, in some cases, but it's going to be those small platoons of ordinary people, living extraordinary lives that are really going to make a difference.' And I think we're blessed in this country to have those groups of small people living extraordinary lives."
