County Forest Roads Aid Distributed

-Governor Scott Walker announced that $284,700 in state funds will help 24 Wisconsin counties maintain and improve public roads in county forests.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation administers the state's County Forest Roads Aid program. The 2016 fiscal year funding will help improve more than 900 miles of public roads within county forests. To qualify for the state funding, roads must meet minimum design standards of a 16 foot surface width and a 20 foot roadway width; be located within county forests; be open and used for travel; and cannot be town roads, county or state highways.

Clark County has 45.98 miles of county forest roads and will receive $14,460.81. For our neighboring counties, Chippewa has 18.12 miles of county forest roads and will receive $5,698.78, Eau Claire has 17.94 miles and will receive $5,642.17, Jackson has 8.68 miles and will receive $2,729.88, Wood has 10.41 miles and will receive $3,273.97, Marathon has 6.48 miles and will receive $2,037.97 and Taylor has 17.36 miles will receive $5,459.76.
