Administrators' Reports at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting on Monday of last week.

Jr/Sr High School Dean of Students Julie Van Ark reported on the pre-festival band and choir concert which was held on March 14. The choir participated in their district festival on Monday, March 21 and Band had their festival on Tuesday, March 22nd. Both festivals were held at the Colby High School. Will Maki and Whitney Baehr represented the high school at the Cloverbelt Conference Scholar/Athlete Banquet on March 15th, while Hailey Keene and Whitney will attend the Cloverbelt Conference Scholar Banquet on April 5.

Also, the drama department will perform, “Goblins in the Attic,” a full-length musical on April 8, 9 and 10. The PLC group sponsored a “Paid Day Off” for all students in good academic standing on March 2. The students traveled to the Stanley Theater to see, “Ant Man.” Students who could not attend stayed at school where they had a speaker and did some one-on-one work with a staff member on how to improve their grades.

District Administrator Bob Houts reported on the trip he and Mr. Engel took to Washington, DC with two faculty members from CVTC to present at the International Technology Education and Engineering Association Conference. Through a grant with CVTC, the District will be receiving 3 lathes and 3 mills for the Tech Ed shop. Electrical upgrades will be needed in the shop area to accommodate the machines. The district has had seven applications for the soon-to-be vacant bookkeeper position and one applicant for the AD position.
