Owen-Withee School Board Approves a Trip and More at Recent Meeting

Thursday, March 24th, 2016 -- 9:20 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board approved a trip to Green Bay for some students at their recent meeting.

Mr. Engel, Mrs. Finkelson and 3 other chaperones will be taking 31 junior high student council members and 6 FFA members to the FFA 212/Edgar Conference in Green Bay on March 18 and 19. As this is an over-night event, notification of the Board is a courtesy to make them aware of the conference. The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports at the meeting. Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor reported on Child Development Days held on March 2. Twenty students were screened on that date with 7 others who will register on another day. The elementary held its “Read In” on March 4 in celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday and for Read Across America Week.

Elementary students are in the process of selecting summer school courses they would like to take. Once that is completed scheduling will begin. Mrs. Katie Hatlestad and Mrs. Korn attended the DPI’s School of Recognition ceremony in Madison on March 14. This is the 11th School of Recognition award for the elementary and the 6th in a row. April 6th will bring the “Lights, Camera, Action” assembly to the elementary. This is a physics-themed assembly that is sponsored by a grant from the Mobil Mart and Exxon/Mobil.
