Clark Cultural Arts Center has Soft Opening with Student Art on Display

Monday, March 21st, 2016 -- 10:18 AM

-The Clark Cultural Art Center, or “CART,” here in Neillsville had a soft opening the weekend of March 12 and 13 to display 100 plus art pieces from area art students.

Schools represented were Nasonville, Neillsville, Loyal and St. Anthony’s. The CART is still undergoing renovations and not all of the facility was available to be used as gallery space. Approximately 250 people went through the Clark Cultural Art Center on Saturday and Sunday of that weekend. Along with the Art Show, there was a stained class demo and art activities for people to participate in. It is the center’s goal to have art displayed from all of the county schools next year.

Renovations continue and are expected to be complete for the grand opening on May 7-8. An organizational meeting of the Board of Directors was held on March 17th. This meeting included adoption of some basic by-laws in an effort to acquire 501 (3)(C) non-profit tax exempt status. The initial Board of Directors will be Linda Garrett-Holets, Sarah Holets, Barbara Petkovsek, Rick Sturtz, Logan Grap, Shawn Ganther, Jon Counsell, Maxine Kluckholm, Lorna Vazquez and Adam S. Committees are currently be formed in the six art areas ??" visual, music, dance, theater, journalism/media and culinary. Volunteers have stepped through the doors to help in many ways ??" painting, demolition/rebuilding, construction, cleaning, etc.

Classes are being scheduled for April and a schedule for 2016 will be available by the grand opening in May. There will be a six week oil painting class starting in April, stained class glasses will be starting in April and acrylic paint nights are schedule for April.
