Owen-Withee School Board Update
Sunday, March 20th, 2016 -- 9:41 AM
The Owen-Withee School Board reviewed student pick up/drop off change at the elementary school at their meeting on Monday. The board heard about the new pick-up and drop-off procedures for parents that were implemented last week. After a week of having students dropped off and picked up on the west side of the building, away from the busses, the process if going fairly well. Morning drop off is great as parents are staggered from 7:30am-8:15am. Pick up after school is a bit more chaotic as all parents are there at one time. With a few tweaks to the system and some familiarity over time, the procedure should become smoother.
The board also discussed the Medford Legislative Forum on March 7th. Four board members and Bob Houts attended forum. Several relevant topics were discussed, including school finance, teacher shortages, the state mandated civics exam, the Wisconsin Retirement System and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Legislators in attendance were Jimmy Boy Edming, Mary Czaja, Janet Bewely, Jerry Petrowski and Bob Kulp
