Neillsville Man Charged With Child Pornography Appears In Court

A Neillsville man charged with 5 counts of possession of child pornography appeared in Clark County Court on Friday for a preliminary hearing.The man is also facing charges of repeated sexual assault of the same child and two counts of incest with a child by stepparent. In investigating this case, the victim stated that she believe the 49-year-old man had video tapped her in her bedroom. The authorities obtained a warrant and discovered 8 images on a hard drive, with 5 of those 8 fitting the definition of child pornography.
During the preliminary hearing, the Assistant District Attorney asked the Clark County Detective how the images were discovered. The defense attorney tried to infer that with 5 other people living in the house, there was no way to tell if the computer or images belonged to the defendant. In the end, the judge felt that there was probable cause so the court proceedings will continue. The man asked for a substitution of judge and stood mute, so not guilty pleas were entered on his behalf
