Medford Man Charged wtih Sexual Assault Appears in Court

-A Medford man charged for sexually assaulting a mentally ill woman appeared in Taylor County Court on Friday for a preliminary hearing.According to court records, 51-year-old Michael Ruch told investigators that he had a consensual relationship with the woman. The victim stated that Ruch would take her out of the mental health facility for one-on-one visits and that's when the assault would occur. The victim also stated that he would threaten her with a gun if she didn't cooperate.
Probable cause was found so his court proceedings will continue. He’ll be back in court in April for a motion hearing. Ruch is free on a $3,000 signature bond and he could spend 40 years in prison if convicted and sentenced to the maximum amount.
