Marshfield Based Meat Processor Recalling Beef Jerky

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -A Marshfield-based meat processor is voluntarily recalling its full muscle teriyaki flavored beef jerky.The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture announced that Hewitt's Meat Processing Inc. sold the meat with a wheat additive, which is a known allergen that was not declared on the label. Wheat can cause serious reactions in people with an allergy or severe sensitivity. No illnesses have been reported from consuming this product.
The jerky is sold in vacuum-packed 1/4 pound packages. The product was sold at retail locations in central Wisconsin and were purchased by consumers on or before February 19th of this year. Consumers who have any of these products may return them to the place of purchase or discard them.
