Black River Falls Man Sentenced for High Speed Chase with Neillsville Officers

Monday, February 22nd, 2016 -- 1:19 PM

-A Black River Falls man arrested for a high speed chase with a Neillsville Police Officer was sentenced in Clark County Court on Monday.

Back in August of last year, a Neillsville officer tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The chase began in the City of Neillsville and followed a series of roads to the west of Neillsville. The chase continued for over 11 miles and speeds of almost 90 miles an hour were reached. The Clark County Sheriff's Department assisted, trying to use a tire deflation device, but the suspect maneuvered around them. Eventually, the suspect, 24-year-old Aron Fogleson of Black River Falls, stopped on his own after several law enforcement agencies became involved.

Fogleson entered a guilty plea to a charge of vehicle operator flee/elude an officer and a charge of OWI, 2nd offense. Three charges, possession with intent/THC, possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating while revoked, were dismissed and read in. A final charge of operate with restricted controlled substance, 2nd offense was dismissed outright. The judge accepted the joint recommendation by the state and defense and sentenced Fogleson to 30 days in jail for the OWI charge. He also set an imposed and stayed sentence of 18 months in prison and 2 years of extended supervision for the fleeing charge, but he will only serve that if he fails the 3 years of probation he was sentenced to for that charge. He must also install an ignition interlock device on his vehicle, he'll have his license revoked and owes the courts $1,618.
