State Ag Department To Renew Livestock Premises Identification Numbers
Sunday, February 21st, 2016 -- 9:51 AM
In an attempt to synchronize the state's database of locations where livestock are produced, raised and kept, the Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium will be working with the state's agriculture department to renew all livestock premises identification numbers during the first half of this year.Wisconsin Ag Connection reports that the non-profit group says every premises registered prior to January 1, 2016 must be renewed by July 31, regardless of when the property first obtained or last renewed its ID number. Property owners who prefer to use the paper form can access the proper forms by calling 888-808-1910.
Since November 1, 2005, the Wisconsin Premises Registration Act requires anyone who keeps, houses, or co-mingles livestock to register their premises with the state. The system was developed to provide timely response to minimize the economic impact in the event of an animal disease outbreak.
