One Person Has Died Due to Injuries Received in Highway 29 Crash in Clark County

Tuesday, February 16th, 2016 -- 11:06 AM

-One person is dead due to the injuries she received 9 days earlier when the vehicle she was riding in was struck by a semi on STH 29 at CTH P in the Township of Green Grove.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call of the crash around 8:40am, on Thursday, February 4th. An initial investigation indicates a vehicle driven by 86-year-old Roy Meyer was southbound on Pray Ave. and crossed STH 29. A semi, driven by 54-year-old Roger Tischendorf, was east bound when he saw the vehicle cross the west bound traffic and enter the east bound lanes. Roger was unable to avoid the collision and struck the south bound vehicle.

The passenger of the minivan, 78-year-old Marilyn Meyer, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to the St. Joseph's hospital in Marshfield by the Spirit Air Helicopter. Marilyn died from her injuries on Saturday, February 13th just after 1pm. Roy was transported to the Marshfield hospital by the Abbotsford Ambulance. Alcohol and speed does not appear to be factors in the accident. Roy and Marilyn were not wearing their seatbelts and are from the rural Dorchester area. Roger was wearing his seatbelt, is also from rural Dorchester and was unhurt. This is the 2nd traffic fatality in Clark County for 2016.

The Owen-Withee-Curtiss Area Fire and Ambulance Service responded to the scene with the Curtiss First Responders, Clark County Sheriff's Office, Abbotsford Ambulance Service and the St. Joseph's Hospital Spirit Air & Ground unit. The Investigation is continuing by the Clark County Sheriff's Office and Coroner Schleifer.
