Great Opportunity for Students Interested in the Medical Field from Memorial Medical Center and the Lake Erie College of Osteopa

Tuesday, February 16th, 2016 -- 10:55 AM

-Memorial Medical Center and the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine is hosting an Open House at the Neillsville High School on Thursday, February 18th starting at 6:30pm.

Ryan Neville, CEO of MMC, explained what the event is.

"The event is to introduce our local area high school students to Lake Erie College of Medicine, known as LECOM, to understand more of the opportunity they can take advantage of in LECOM programs in DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine), Pharmacy, Dentistry and Healthcare Administration."

Just because the event is in Neillsville doesn't mean that it's just for Neillsville students. Mr. Neville said that all high school students interested in a medical field are welcome to attend. Neillsville was one of only a few locations chosen to host this event and other hosts were big cities. Mr. Neville explained.

"LECOM, as they're trying to attract more high school students to their school in Erie, Pennsylvania, is doing regional nights like this in much larger cities such as Chicago, New York and out west in Denver. And I find it to be a wonderful opportunity that as they're doing about 5 or 6 of these nationally, Neillsville, Wisconsin is right up there on their list as an opportunity to find some great future students for their program."

The guest speakers from LECOM at the event include Kathy Zboyovski, Academic Early Acceptance Program Coordinator, and Dr. Shabloski, a professor at LECOM. The event is being held on Thursday, but you can register for the event now and Mr. Neville explained how you can do that.

"Please call, 715-743-8454 or you can use the [email protected] e-mail or just call the hospital and ask for Ryan Neville. All of us will find a way to get you the information and we're hoping for a nice turnout and we're hoping that students in our area get a jump start on their future."

Once again that event is happening this Thursday at the Neillsville High School starting at 6:30pm and all students must be accompanied by an adult.
