Loyal's Main Street Construction Project Coming Summer of 2017, Part 3

-Members of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Gremmer and Associates, Inc. and the City of Loyal were present Thursday night to discuss the construction project happening in Loyal in the summer of 2017.During construction, the project will be done in two segments, with Main Street done first and South Street done 2nd. During that time, those roadways will be closed to thru traffic, but access for emergency vehicles and access to homes and businesses will be maintained on a gravel base. There will still be access for pedestrians to use in order to get to a business in the downtown area as well. It was also mentioned that while there will be two different detour routes, depending on what street they're working on, it is designed to keep traffic close to Loyal, so people can still use the businesses.
As for the tentative schedule, the proposed right-of-way acquisition is occurring now through the fall of this year. The final plan submittal is August 1st, the project will be put out to bid in December and construction will begin in 2017. When the project is all said and done, everything will basically be the same; things will just be shifted slightly. However, there will be one other notable change. At both ends of Main Street, coming into Loyal and heading toward Marshfield, there will be 4-way stops instead of what's currently there.
