Neillsville Chamber of Commerce Annual Recognition Banquet, Part 10
Friday, February 12th, 2016 -- 11:30 AM
-The Neillsville Chamber of Commerce held their Recognition Banquet at the Neillsville American Legion recently. After the award winners, Deanna Heiman, the award presenter, then went over the Anniversary Honors. The next honor went to The Christine Center for their 35th Anniversary. A sister from the center was present to accept the award.
Deanna: "The Christine Center was founded in 1980 as a place for people of all spiritual paths to come for meditation and deep, trans-formative spiritual work. Sister Virgina Mary Barta arranged for the purchase of a 251 acre farm with a barn, house and several sheds. Friends and neighbors helped to clean and remodel and, two years later, the barn was transformed into a meditation hall, program area and library. The silo became the chapel."
Sister: "What an honor to be here with all of you tonight and receive this recognition. We depend, everyday, on our neighbors and friends and people who come in to work with us to provide the basic care of our guests that come from far and wide. It is not unusual anymore to get people from abroad, foreign countries. They find their way to this woodland retreat."
Norm and Ann's Campground celebrated their 30th Anniversary in 2015. Brian Thompson was on hand to accept the award.
Deanna: "Norm and Ann's Campground is located on Highway 10, just 3 miles west of The Highground. Brian Thompson is the campground's second generation owner and in 2015 celebrated 30 years of operation. Over the past 9 years, Brian has expanded the facility to include 11 full hook up sites, 4 on site rental campers, a cabin, plus bedrooms for rent. The site also has sheltered meeting areas, available to the public for no charge."
Brian: "Thanks so much for this honor. I also thank all the board members for inviting for me to be a part of the Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors. It's just fantastic."
Coming up on Monday, we'll hear from the final Anniversary winners, The Clark County Economic Development Corporation and Tourism Bureau and The Optimist Club of Neillsville.
