Neillsville Chamber of Commerce Annual Recognition Banquet, Part 9

Thursday, February 11th, 2016 -- 1:21 PM

-The Neillsville Chamber of Commerce held their Recognition Banquet at the Neillsville American Legion recently.

After the award winners, Deanna Heiman, the award presenter, then went over the Anniversary Honors. The next honor went to Gesche Funeral Home for their 40th Anniversary. Lowell Gesche, Tim Brekke and Lori Pekol were present to receive the award.

Deanna: "In 1975, Lowell Gesche purchased the Jordan Funeral Home from Elmer Jordan and changed the name to Gesche Funeral Home. In late 1988, Lowell sold his controlling interest in the funeral home to the Burton family. A third generation funeral service family whose focus is on preserving and promoting funeral services in rural communities. Soon after, the Burton family reinvested in the community by building a beautiful new funeral home at the intersection of U.S. Highway 10 and State Highway 73. The single level building allows for complete handicap accessibility and operational efficiency.

Lori: "I've been very privileged to be apart of the Gesche Funeral Home team for the past 15 years. And I have said before that being trained in this field by these two is priceless. These guys are the best at what they do."

Tim: "I'd like to thank the Chamber Board of Directors and Ambassadors for our award tonight."

Double R Horse Co. & Auction Services celebrated their 35th Anniversary in 2015. Randy and Julie Reineck were present to accept the award.

Deanna: "Since 1980, Randy and Julie Reineck have dedicated countless hours each year to operating the Central Wisconsin Horse Sale as part of their business, Double R Horse Co. & Auction Services. In fact, the event had grown to become Wisconsin's largest, 4-day horse sale. Each year, hundreds of people would flock to Neillsville to attend either the spring event in April or the fall event in September, which features not only animals, but also machinery and equipment."

Randy: "Thank you for honoring the horse sale. It means a lot to us. You people realize what that sale brings to the community. It doesn't seem like 35 years have gone by, but its been a very good run. I've enjoyed it and I just thank you folks for allowing us to be here."

Coming up on Friday, we'll hear from the next Anniversary winners, The Christine Center and Norm and Ann's Campground.
