Two Vehicle Accident on Highway 73 North of Christie

Friday, February 5th, 2016 -- 11:28 AM

-Clark County authorities are investigating a two vehicle accident that resulted in the closing of STH 73 north of Christie.

On February 3rd, at about 7:44am, the Clark County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call of an accident on State Highway 73 north of Bobwhite Road in the Township of Eaton. Initial investigation indicates that a car being driven by 24-year-old Kionna Slater was north bound on STH 73 when a truck ahead of her caused her to brake. Kionna then lost control of her vehicle and started to spin.

A full sized van driven by 80-year-old Mavis Liebzeit, was driving south on STH 73 with 5 occupants including special needs children. The van then struck the north bound car. There were 3 children hurt in the van with non-incapacitating injuries, which came to rest in the west ditch. The car came to reset in the middle of the roadway facing west after then striking a passing vehicle's trailer. A passenger in the car, 26-year-old Brian Slater, was trapped inside with incapacitating injuries.

STH 73 was blocked for about 1 ? hours while crews removed the vehicles. Kionna and Brian are from Marshfield and the occupants in the van are from the Greenwood and Loyal area. All the occupants in the van and car were wearing restraints and/or seatbelts. The Neillsville Area Ambulance and Fire Department, Greenwood Area Ambulance Service, crews from the Spirit Ambulance service and the Clark County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. The Clark County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation into the crash.
