Neillsville Chamber of Commerce Annual Recognition Banquet, Part 4

-The Neillsville Chamber of Commerce held their Recognition Banquet on Saturday evening at the Neillsville American Legion.The winners of the Agri-Business of the Year Award were Duane and Brenda Boon and Brad and Kristine Boon. Deanna Heiman, the award presenter, explained the history of the farm.
Deanna: "Duane Boon started farming in high school with the purchase of 14 heifer calves. He and his wife Brenda eventually grew the milking heard from those calves purchasing very few cows to supplement their heard over the course of 40 years. Today, Boon Farms has grown to over 1,000 owned and rented acres, 300 cows, 300 young heifers and 7 employees."
"Duane and Brad, along with their team of dedicated employees, carry out the various daily tasks at the dairy, not to mention the field work that comes with growing nearly all of their feed. The farm produces over 8 million pounds of raw milk annually. There top priorities are ensuring excellent animal health and comfort as well as being great stewards of the land."
"Duane and Brenda Boon have three grown children: Stacy, Eric and Brad. Brad joined the family farm operation after he left the military in 2010. In 2014, Daune and Brenda partnered with Brad and his wife Kristine to from Boon Farms, LLC."
Brad and Kristine were very honored to receive this award.
Brad: "I really appreciate this honor. We couldn't do it all without our reliable full time and part time employees. It's what we do every day, so we really appreciate it."
