(Marshfield News Herald) -Firefighters rescued a dog from a smoke-filled house on Marshfield's west side Monday afternoon.Shortly before 4 p.m., Wood County's dispatch center received a report of smoke coming out of a house at 306 W. Cleveland St. Fire crews carried a large dog out of the house, which is divided into two apartment units, while a man also exited the property with his own dog.
Neither the man nor the dogs were injured, according to Craig DeGrand, deputy chief of the Marshfield Fire Department. The smoke, which radiated from a fire near a stove, caused extensive damage, DeGrand said. Fire Department officials are investigating the cause of the incident.
