La Crosse Man Sentenced for Hitting Tow Truck Operator Near Osseo

-A La Crosse man who hit a tow truck operator near Osseo has been sentenced.Back in October of 2014, 38-year-old Nathan Walsh of Osseo was struck and killed 5 miles east of Osseo while he was removing a disabled vehicle from the interstate. He was struck by a passing pickup truck driven by Steven Dolan. The State Patrol said that the tow truck was parked on the right shoulder in front of the disabled car, it had its emergency lights on and Walsh was wearing a reflective vest when he was hit. Lifesaving procedures were attempted by responding officers, but Walsh died on the scene.
Dolan was charged with negligent homicide and insists that he never saw the tow truck or driver. He pleaded not guilty to the charges back in March of last year. A trial was held back in November and he was found guilty by a jury. He was sentenced to 5 years' probation and he must report to jail on October 19th, the day the accident occurred, during his 5 years of probation and spend two weeks in jail. He must also pay $11,000 in restitution.
