Volunteers Needed for New Cultural Arts Center in Neillsville
Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 -- 9:39 AM
-Around 30 excited people came to a meeting Tuesday afternoon to discuss the Cultural Arts Center coming to Neillsville. The former Methodist Church in Neillsville was officially purchased yesterday morning by Dr. Sarah Holets and Linda (Garett) Holets. They shared a PowerPoint presentation on what their vision and mission is with this arts center. It was stressed that this center would not be just Neillsville's, but all of Clark County's and act as a hub for people to come and view and display their art. They would also like to bring shows and events to Clark County for people to enjoy. They would focus on and display a wide variety of media including Visual Arts, Music, Culinary, Journalism/Writing and Dance.
They have a rigorous schedule before them. They've begun to fill out the paperwork to become a non-profit organization and they're looking for volunteers for their Board of Directors. They're also looking for a better name than just the Cultural Arts Center, so if you have a good name to suggest, you can contact Linda at [email protected] or mail a suggestion to 201 E. 4th Street in Neillsville. They plan on being involved in the Clark County Economic Development Corporation and Tourism Bureau's "Spring Into the Arts" Studio Tour in April and they plan on having a grand opening by May. If you'd like to volunteer for the board or one of five committees they hope to form or to just be a volunteer, you can contact Linda. If you'd like to learn more, they're holding another meeting about their plans tonight at the former Methodist Church here in Neillsville on E. 4th Street from 4pm-6pm.
