Annual Report of Officers at Neillsville City Council Meeting, Final

Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 -- 9:33 AM

-The Neillsville City Council not only heard the monthly Report of Officers at their meeting on Tuesday, but the Annual Report of Officers as well.

Some other items of note from the Annual Report, Police Chief Scott Klueckmann investigated 8 complaints against his officers. They were all thoroughly investigated and determined to be unfounded. Chief Klueckmann said the implementation of the body camera program has done wonders in these cases.

Chief Klueckmann also explained the levels of force an officer will use. There are 5 levels that include presence, dialog, empty handed control, intermediate weapons and deadly force. Neillsville officers made 205 arrests in 2015 and 97%, or 199 arrests, were done with the first two levels, presence and dialog. 2%, or 4 arrests, were accomplished with empty handed control and 1%, or 2 arrests, were accomplished with the threat of deadly force. In the 1%, an officer pointed their handgun at a suspect, but the weapons were never fired. Chief Klueckmann is very proud of his officers for these figures.

Finally, the council was provided some figures on drunken driving enforcement in the city by the Neillsville Police Department and he reviewed some of the more notable items they had throughout the year in 2015.
