Clark County Board of Supervisors Approve Grant Application to Fix Sherwood Dam

-The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved the grant application to repair Sherwood Dam at their meeting on Thursday.The Sherwood Dam auxiliary spillway failed in 2014, resulting in a complete drawdown of the lake. The DNR issued a directive to either repair or abandon the dam due to a number of other issues with it. Since then, the Friends of Sherwood Lake have been raising funds to dredge the lake since it's so low. They hope to begin that project by the end of this month and have it completed by the end of February.
Once that is complete, the county intends to fix the dam. They applied for a grant which would pay 50% of the cost as well as 25% of the cost for items like engineering and inspections. The total cost to fix the dam is estimated at $268,330. If everything goes according to plan, they hope to have the lake back by the end of this year.
