-The Owen-Withee School Board discussed the spring elections at their meeting on Monday. Two candidates have been identified for the ballot this spring. Rick Eloaranta and Kim Amacher will run for the two open board seats. As there are two candidates for two open seats, no primary will be needed in February. The board also discussed and approved the CESA 10 contract for 2016-17. Total estimated CESA costs for next year are $212,414. This is nearly the same cost the district has for this year.
The board reviewed the 2014-15 financial audit done by Schenk, Inc. The report showed the district in good financial shape with no major discrepancies or findings. The district also set the maximum number of regular ed students allowed under open enrollment for the 2016-17 school year at 100. They also approved a maximum of special ed students at 50.
Finally, the 2016-17 District Calendar was presented to the board. Action on the calendar was delayed until the February meeting to give staff a chance to review the calendar and suggest any improvements or changes that might be needed. The proposed calendar is in the district web page in the Important Documents section.
