Vos Disputing State Eections Board's Stance

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos is disputing the state elections board's stance that Wisconsin's new campaign finance laws don't require political parties and legislative campaign committees to disclose contributions they receive from corporations.A campaign finance bill Gov. Scott Walker signed last month allows corporations to donate up to $12,000 to parties and legislative committees. Government Accountability Board spokesman Reid Magney told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the board believes the law doesn't require reporting corporate donations. Vos obtained a memo from the Legislative Reference Bureau saying the law does require reporting.
Magney said in an interview board staffers believe the law requires reporting but since it doesn't establish a mechanism for disclosing corporate donations separately parties and committees don't need to report. The board plans to revisit the issue Tuesday
