-The City of Neillsville may soon have a cultural arts center for people to enjoy. The LAB Art Gallery opened its first art show, called Uncovered, the weekend of October 10th and 11th. The purpose was to highlight art found in the Neillsville area. The gallery is also open the second weekend of each month and features a new artist with a wide variety of art on display including paintings, drawings, printmaking, ceramics, pottery and more.
All of this is done under the watchful eye of Linda Garrett, an artist herself, who has further plans for the City of Neillsville. Linda plans on purchasing the United Methodist Church and parsonage at 205 E. 4th Street here in Neillsville and turning it into a Cultural Arts Center. The building needs some work and while that's being done, a Board of Directors will be formed and the filing for a non-profit will be done as well. Linda hopes to bring various forms of art, woodworking, welding, music, dance and more to the center.
There are open meetings planned for January 19th and 20th from 4pm-6pm where a framework for the cultural arts center will be presented and everyone is welcome to attend. A grand opening for the center is being planned for May 7th.
