Bill Allowing Concealed Weapons In College Buildings Won't Get A Vote Soon
Thursday, December 31st, 2015 -- 11:23 AM
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says a bill allowing concealed weapons in college buildings probably won't get a vote before the legislation session ends early next year. The Associated Press reports that Vos, a Rochester Republican, says he supports the concept of carrying weapons in campus buildings. He hasn't discussed the bill with his caucus yet but he hasn't heard an outcry from his colleagues for passage. He says he wants the Assembly to finish its work by the end of February and the bill probably won't get a vote by then.
Rep. Jesse Kremer and Sen. Devin LaMahieu introduced the bill days after a gunman killed nine people at a community college in Oregon. Currently people can carry concealed weapons on college campuses but can't bring them into classrooms or stadiums
