Neillsville School Board Approves Budget Adjustments
Wednesday, December 23rd, 2015 -- 9:07 AM
-The Neillsville School Board approved some budget adjustments at their meeting on Monday. The board made some adjustments to Fund 27, Special Project Funds, and Fund 50, the Food Service Fund. Those adjustments also made some slight changes to Fund 10, the General Fund.
The board also provided a public notice in regards to Act 55. Act 55 states that the district must make all educational opportunities in the district available to the public. They must also include other items like nearby voucher and charters schools, available online course and more. As per the act, the district only has to have board approval and put it on their website.
At the beginning of the meeting, the wrestling coach made a request of the board. He wanted to allow 5th graders to participate in the middle school wrestling practices. The reason is that they have a 6th grader that only weighs 60 pounds and their next lightest wrestler in middle school is 80 pounds. The coach would like 5th graders to wrestle with the middle school in practice so that student can practice with kids closer to his weight. The 5th graders would only participate during practice and not at competitions. The board could take no action on the item, however, as it wasn't on the agenda. They will discuss it further in January, even though the season ends in February.
