Owen City Council Hears Several Important Updates
Thursday, December 17th, 2015 -- 9:03 AM
-The Owen City Council heard an update on several important items at their meeting last week.City Clerk Terri Ernst reported the Emergency Management Committee met and made final changes to the city's plan and the final version will be available once those changes are made. The council approved the adoption of the City of Owen Disaster Response Plan and Resource Directory. Clerk Ernst also reported that the 2015 Budget Amendments will not be ready till the next meeting in January, so the item was tabled until January of 2016.
Finally, the council, as well as individuals present, discussed the Louks Subpoena. For some time, an individual from out of state, Louks, was interested in purchasing some buildings in Owen. However, it was later discovered that Louks has a sketchy history with him being involved in several fraud cases. A media representative asked that this item be put on the agenda. The City Council does not feel that any information of importance to the city was intentionally kept from them when these deals were taking place. The Council is satisfied with CDC Tim Swiggum's response on the matter who was handling the negotiations. The council approved to end any further discussion on this matter.
