Don't Forget the Clark County Area Food Pantry and Resource Center with your Holiday Donations, Part 5
Wednesday, December 16th, 2015 -- 9:19 AM
-With the holiday season upon us, donations to the Clark County Area Food Pantry and Resource Center are very important.I spoke with Judy Morrow and Deanna Heiman, who were instrumental in getting the Food Pantry going, about the importance of donating and the challenges of running a facility like this. Deanna said that it's a good idea for people to keep in touch with the Food Pantry so donors know what the pantry needs.
Deanna: "It's important to stay connected with the food pantry, I think, because, as Judy mentioned, we don't have any way to anticipate what demands are going to be made on our inventory. So, sometimes we'll just get phone calls on 'what do you need now, what do you need right now?' And that really helps us because we can't anticipate what we're going to get in."
"So, it is kind of nice if somebody wants to make an individual donation and they call and say 'is there an immediate need that we can help with?' Like Judy said, we appreciate every donation. Every donation, bar none! But, it's nice sometimes if they want to make a specific donation and they want to make sure they help full fill a need. Just give Judy a call and then we can give them a heads up on yes, we really need this now so we can direct their donation to where it will be most beneficial."
Coming up on Thursday, we'll hear about when, what and how you can donate to the Clark County Area Food Pantry and Resource Center.
