Owen City Council Approves Many Appointments

-The Owen City Council approved several appointments for different positions in the city at their meeting last week.Owen's City Attorney Bill Thiel is retiring at the end of the month. His recommendation to the Council to fill his position was Garrett Nix for the City's general municipal needs and the council approved this. The council also approved the appointments to the Owen Jr. Fair Board including Rocky Lehr as Chairman, Jody Nordine as Treasurer, Kim Sybers as Secretary, Phil Greschner, Wendy Henke, Samantha Thornton and Lonnie Kroeplin.
The council then approved the election official appointments for the next term beginning in January of 2016 and ending at the end of December in 2017. A .25 cent increase was also approved bringing the rate to $8.75 and $8.25. The people approved included Dennis Lulloff, Art and Alice Feldman, Dottie and Jim Bjornstad, Jim Scheuer, Tom and Virginia Miller, Melvyn Lorence, Harriet Laube and Sandy Nyre. Owen City Clerk Terri Ernst reported that they need new recruits for election inspectors and chief election inspectors. If anyone is interested they should contact City Hall.
