Rare December Rain for Wisconsin

(AP) -Wisconsin is getting a soaking from rare December rainfall.

The National Weather Service has issued flood watches for southwestern, south-central and southeastern Wisconsin as a slug of rain pushes northward into Wisconsin from the central U.S. In southwest Wisconsin, the weather service says nearly 4 inches of rain already had fallen on Viroqua by Sunday morning, and it was still raining. Another 1 to 2.5 inches of rain is possible through Monday afternoon.

The weather service says up to 2.6 inches of rain could fall along and northwest of a line from Janesville to Sheboygan. Besides the rain, Wisconsin also seeing balmy weather for mid-December. Milwaukee broke a record high at 10 a.m. Sunday when the temperature reached 59 degrees. The previous record of 58 was set in 1975.
