-A Black River Falls man charged for causing a chain-reaction crash that left several people hurt and another man dead in Jackson County entered a plea in court.According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, back in July of 2014, a driver of a vehicle pulling a boat and trailer was trying to find a safe place to pull over, because his trailer had a flat tire, on County Highway K in the Town of Komensky, south of Hatfield.
There were two cars following the boat going slowly. Authorities say that 27-year-old Brandon Rave came up behind them and tried to pass them. In doing so, he side-swiped one vehicle and hit the boat sending it over a guardrail. Rave's car then caught fire. One of his passengers, as well as a passerby named Richard Zenz, tried to put out the flames. Zenz collapsed after the incident and was pronounced dead later.
Rave had a multitude of charges filed against him including OWI, bail jumping and recklessly endangering safety. He entered guilty pleas to some of the charges and he'll be sentenced in February.
