Loyal School Board Discusses Policies and Elections at Recent Meeting

-The Loyal School discussed some district policies and board elections at their meeting last week.The board approved 3 new policies including graduation honors, new Civics test, and a stiffer drug/alcohol policy. They also discussed upcoming board elections and Board Member Adam Luchterhand said he is not running again. They also discussed that the School Board Convention is coming up.
The board gave a raise to the district's food service staff, which came to between 25 cents and 50 cents per hour, depending on the position. They gave a raise to the district's Spanish teacher as she has 30+ years of experience and they felt they needed to get her in line with others in similar situations. They also approved hiring Andrea Gribble to assist the district with their social media presence. She will assist them with this until they are able to manage it on their own.
Finally, the board approved two out-of-state trips one being for Choir to Minnesota and the other for Elementary kids to the Mall of America. And they discussed mileage reimbursement for open enroll students coming into the district for which travel is a financial hardship.
