Marshfield's 2021 Stewardship Awards Accepts Applications
Sunday, April 25th, 2021 -- 9:14 AM
If you live in Marshfield, has an aging property in your neighborhood become the shining star of the block? Are you aware of someone who has done such a great job restoring or maintaining their property that they should be recognized?
The Marshfield Historic Preservation Committee would like your help in identifying candidates for the 2021 Stewardship Awards Program. To promote public awareness of preservation and restoration, the Committee will present awards to property owners who have shown exemplary stewardship in historic preservation through renovation and upkeep of their property. Any property 50 years or older, or any individual or business that is involved in historic education and promotion in the community, is eligible. Awards will be announced and presented annually or bi-annually in conjunction with Historic Preservation Month or a Common Council meeting. Local resident Kris Leonhardt, an award recipient in 2017 said, “The award really came as a surprise to me. I was just doing what I love. History is truly a passion for me. I also got to know a wonderful pillar of the community through one of those projects they noted with the award. Getting to spend a year meeting with Bette Adler and learning more about her family’s theater business was significant in so many ways. You can’t get that time back. She was able to see the book published before she passed away. Receiving that award made it all that much sweeter.”
Submit a nomination by April 30, 2021 by going to the City website at https:// www.ci.marshfield.wi.us/community/historic_preservation/stewardship_award_program.php, print out the nomination form, and mail your completed nomination to: Historic Preservation Committee, City of Marshfield, 207 W. 6th Street, Marshfield, WI 54449 or email [email protected]. Forms are also available at City Hall in the Development Services Department. The Committee & City staff look forward to working with the community to promote Marshfield’s historic character through education and outreach. Help us celebrate the people and places that make Marshfield interesting, unique and important.
