Well Water Testing Opportunity for Clark County Residents, Final
Wednesday, November 11th, 2015 -- 10:59 AM
-Clark County residents have a fantastic opportunity, provided by the Clark County UW-Extension Office, to have their water tested at a reduced cost. The department will be offering water testing to county residents so you can know what's in your well water. Melissa Kono, CNRED Agent for Clark County, explained how people can get involved with the test and what they look for.
"What they test for is all of these metals and some other things that are typically used in agriculture. Just to test and see what's making its way into our water. It's not meant to be a policing thing. It's meant to address any health concerns there might be."
"Now the testing, people can pick up their water bottles here at the courthouse either on Thursday, November 12th or Friday, November 13th. And then on Monday, we ask that be the day the sample is taken. And we give them instructions on how to properly take the sample. And then they bring it here on that Monday after they test. We keep them cool and then I'll deliver them to Steven's Point to be tested."
"So, it take a couple weeks to test the samples, analyze the results and have everything ready. And just with the holidays I think it will be easier to do an educational seminar in January. This is the last one that we're going to have. We had a series of them starting last fall. We had one again this spring. This is the last one that we're going to be able to have just because the funding that was available is about to expire."
Once again, the cost of the project is $50 and you need to pick up the bottle for testing tomorrow or Friday at the Clark County Courthouse if you want to get involved.
