Clark County's District Attorney Reviewing Marathon County Case Involving Fire Truck Joy Ride

Saturday, November 7th, 2015 -- 5:47 AM

-Clark County's District Attorney will decide if a Mosinee man will be charged for taking a fire truck for a drive and crashing this past summer.

According to an investigation report, 23-year-old Cody Krieg decided to take the back-up fire truck for a drive to clear his head. He had been drinking that night, but stated that he wasn't drunk. He ended up crashing the truck and the Fire Chief received a call on July 22nd that the truck had been crashed on Oconto Road in Mosinee.

Krieg tried to cover up the incident by reporting the accident from a phone line that didn't display caller I.D. and using an accent when he called it in, but a co-worker in dispatch recognized his voice. When authorities questioned Krieg, he initially denied any involvement, but later admitted to it.
Krieg did resign from the department, but still works as a dispatcher. The Fire Chief decided not to pursue charges against him as nothing positive would result from it. The Marathon County District Attorney felt an outside investigation would be the best way to handle the situation.
