Power Issues in the City of Neillsville

-Power was out for most of the day in the City of Neillsville.According to Xcel Energy, a squirrel got into the equipment at the substation on the north end of town. Power went out around 9:30am. Xcel is working to restore the power.
The Clark County Emergency Management Department asks residents not to call unless they have an emergency. It is also important to remember that portable generators should not be operated indoors as they can produce gases such as carbon monoxide which can be deadly. If you are going to operate a portable generator make sure it is outside in a well ventilated area.
