Budget Update at Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council heard an update on the city's 2016 budget at their meeting last week.Owen City Clerk Terri Ernst reported that all departments have turned in their budget proposals. The Finance Committee met on Thursday and there have been two Personnel Meetings so far. Personnel will have to meet again and then Finance to finalize the budget. The Health Insurance renewal has not been received as of yet.
CDC Tim Swiggum reported that property owners along County Highway D would like to purchase the City land located behind their properties. Erik Stinson made the offer and Swiggum asked the other property owners if they would be interested also. The rate would be $500/acre.
Tim Swiggum also reported on the Oktoberfest event. Weather was not the best but seemed successful. The DRC will decide if they will do the event again next year. Tim was on a bus tour with the WEDA Director touring Clark County as well.
