Emerald Ash Borer Discussed at Neillsville City Council Meeting
Wednesday, October 14th, 2015 -- 10:22 AM
-The Neillsville City Council discussed the Emerald Ash Borer at their meeting on Tuesday evening. The city has already begun to take precautions against the beetle. It's in the Black River Falls area and the counties south of Clark are under EAB quarantine. Some city officials went out with a DNR representative to check their Ash trees already. All though they didn't find any Borers, they did see some signs of them.
Public Works Director Dave Flynn said that they plan on taking down some Ash trees in the city anyway as they are distressed and weak. No action was taken on the EAB item on the agenda, it was just for the council's FYI, but they will take action in the future.
The council also approved a request to take the Veteran's Day Holiday the day after Thanksgiving, approved the resignation of Carrie Converse from the Heritage Days Committee and approved the appointment of Aaron Bembnister to the Heritage Days Committee to replace Carrie.
