(AP) -Humana says a laptop and documents were stolen when a Wisconsin Humana employee's vehicle was broken into. The Louisville, Kentucky-based health insurer says the paper copy documents contained the member name, date of birth and clinic name for about 2,800 Humana Medicare Advantage members. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the documents also included Humana member identification numbers for about 250 of those members.
Humana says the documents did not contain any Social Security numbers or financial information. In addition, the company says information on the laptop is encrypted and protected from external access.
Humana says it has no reason to believe the information has been used inappropriately. The company is notifying people whose information was on the paper copies and will issue new identification numbers and identification cards.
