Wisconsin Farmers Price For Milk Unchanged

Wisconsin farmers received an average price of $17.50 per hundredweight for their milk in August, unchanged from July's price, but $6.80 lower than what they were paid last August.The USDA's latest Agricultural Prices report shows that the U.S. milk price for August was $16.70 per cwt, 80 cents lower than Wisconsin's price, but 10 cents higher than the July U.S. price.
Ten states had an increase in price from July to August, five had a decrease in price and eight had no change. Meanwhile, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange reports that 40-pound block cheese price closed at $1.63 per pound on September 29, while barrels were $1.55 per pound. The CME butter price was $2.75 per pound.
For the week ending September 19, the Agricultural Marketing Service U.S. weekly 40-pound block cheese price averaged $1.71 per pound, and 500 pound barrels adjusted to 38 percent moisture averaged $1.68 per pound. The U.S. butter price was $2.47 per pound
