Bicyclist Killed in Accident at Levis Mound Bike Trails

-Clark County authorities are investigating a bicycle crash that took the life of the bicyclist.On September 23rd, at about 2:41pm, the Clark County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call of a bicycle accident on the Levis Mound bike trail, near Fisher Ave in the Township of Dewhurst. The bicyclist was unconscious and not breathing.
The initial investigation indicates that 67-year-old Christopher R. Hanson was riding his bicycle and had hit something on the trail. Christopher then flew off his bicycle and landed on the ground. It's believed Christopher hit his head on a log when he landed.
Christopher was transported to the Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire by the Mayo Helicopter where he succumbed to his injuries. He was also wearing a helmet. Christopher is from Arlington Heights Illinois and had been coming to the Levis Mound bicycle trails every year to ride.
The Clark County Sheriff's Office, DNR, Merrillan First Responders, Merrillan Fire Department, Black River Fall Ambulance, Neillsville Area Ambulance and the Mayo Air Helicopter responded to the scene. The Clark County Sheriff's and Coroner's Office is continuing the investigation into the accident
